| Abstract: | Machine processing, which is a vital part of our operation, is accomplished efficiently and economically through the use of IBM equipment. The adaptation of these machines to library operations is, of course, not new with us. Others saw the adaptive potential and pioneered in the use of electronic machines in library operations several years ago. The principles they outlined were simple and easily adaptable; however, we early recognized that an IBM machine has no greater validity for a library than has a pencil. Both are simply tools for the accomplishment of a library operation, and like all tools they are only as effective as the individuals using them. |
