| Abstract: | The sixth annual Clinic on Library Applications of Data Processing was conducted from May 5 to May 8, 1968, at Urbana by the Division of University Extension and the Graduate School of Library Science of the University of Illinois. The present volume of proceedings includes, in final, revised form, all the invited papers that were presented and discussed at this year's Clinic. The principal purpose of the Clinic has continued to be that of providing a forum on the intermediate and advanced technical levels for reports and discussions of significant progress and experience in the field. Like papers of previous Clinics, the present contributions continue to reflect the activities of different types of libraries and information centers and the working applications of data processing to the various areas of library operation and service (circulation control, acquisitions, cataloging, serials records, document retrieval, etc.) as well as the emergence of regional systems and networks and the support of large-scale experimental efforts. The continued quantity, quality, and cumulative nature of this experience should be emphasized. |
