Project Title:
Great Lakes Digital Collections Aggregator

Project Description:
This feasibility study explores the intellectual, collaborative, and technical potential of building a prototype digital collections aggregator service to support hypothesis-oriented scholarship on the communities of people (native populations and immigrant settlers) who have migrated in and out of the Great Lakes region, and in doing so have built and rebuilt the region over two centuries. The PI (Paul Conway) and two graduate student research associates (Alix Keener & Corinne Vieracker) will assess the broad scope of already-digitized resources that could support the study of Great Lakes population issues, identify one or more technical partners for a possible aggregation service that could include a set of analytical tools, and recruit a group of collaborators (scholars and IT experts) in the CIC+ member organizations who would be willing to participate in a follow-on project through Humanities Without Walls.
