|Title:||Where do the PhDs go?|
In 2016, 54,904 PhD students received their doctorate degrees in fields ranging from History to Health Sciences to Engineering to Psychology. But where do these graduates go after spending an average of 6 years in graduate school? What kinds of careers do they pursue (academia, industry, government, nonprofit) and what are their salaries in these different sectors? In this data visualization, I explore the postgraduate pathways that doctorates pursue, their median salaries in the workforce, as well as patterns in the number of doctorate degrees received across the years.
