Title:A New Way to Measure Access to Jobs: Measuring difficulty of commuting with crowdsourced traffic data and GTFS

Geographic Coverage:Chicago, Illinois region
Abstract:Job Accessibility measures how easily an individual can overcome travel barriers and physically reach job opportunities. However, previous JA measures have used inaccurate auto travel time. Also they have not considered travel attributes that significantly affect difficulty of commute by transit. This study used crowdsourced traffic data to get actual travel time and conduct Dijkstra's algorithm to compute the transit travel attributes. The refined JA measurements showed unique and detail spatial patterns that were not revealed by previous JA measurements.
