Title: | Selfie with kiddos in Namukumbo, Zambia |
Author(s): | Gatti, Nicolas |
Subject(s): | Agricultural and Consumer Economics |
Abstract: | The picture is an emotional moment I had during my fieldwork trip to Zambia. I captured this spontaneous moment, which summarizes why it is so rewarding to work for children's present and future. I was in Namukumbo camp in Mumbwa to supervise surveys when I noticed some kids were looking at me and smiling. They ran to their school classroom and came back with more friends, and I waved my hand. I got close to them to say hello, and they were celebrating my presence. Their faces express happiness about seeing someone different who is visiting their village. When we talk about research impact, these are the kind of experiences that we cannot quantify and change our professional career forever. |
