Abstract:In this project the reliability of different Power-Electronic Grid Interface Topologies for Wind Energy Conversion Systems (WECS) is analyzed. To this end, appropriate Markov models capturing the failure behavior of the different topologies are constructed. This allows the computation of performance metrics of interest such as the reliability, the failure rate or the mean time to failure, that will reveal which system has the highest probability of delivering its function uninterruptedly. Results disclose which approach maximizes the power supplied.
