Abstract:In our interconnected world, artificial Intelligence is a disrupter, an enhancer, and an integral part of our information society. Many technologies incorporate some form of artificial intelligence whether it is known, unknown, or hidden from us in the form of tools. Collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, Slack, and Trello have artificial intelligent features that connect people across the world to share information. The collaboration tools incorporate task bots that assist with information seeking and other simple tasks. In the near future, these task bots have the potential to become an artificial general intelligence teammate. The purpose of this study is to collect questions from practitioners on design considerations for artificial intelligence teammates. A similar study was performed with research scientists that created a research agenda for research scientists and practitioners. This study will focus on practitioners, specifically engineers. The study will contribute to the information science literature on collaborative information seeking and the information seeking behaviors of engineers in an interconnected world.
