Subject(s):Identity Development
Students of Color
Abstract:Through pursuing a doctorate in education policy, organization, and leadership, my research focuses on identity development amongst students of color at institutions of higher education. Through the method of autoethnography, I am analyzing my overall college experience by thoroughly reflecting on the positive and negative aspects of my journey thus far. Although we may feel alone at these institutions at times (especially during a pandemic), by creating a family away from family and reflecting on why we are here in the first place, we find the strength to push through together. This image was captured at my alma mater, Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. The couple in-frame embody utter beauty and grace. The ability to find peace, joy, and bliss during a pandemic simply because you are with your soulmate tells us a story of college love that has yet to be told. The presence of love, family, and the mutual support they bring at the most confusing of times is not something that can overlooked or taken for granted. ..As long as I got you..
