Title:Penalized Information: Relaxation Bounds for Airline Recovery

Abstract:Large-scale airline recovery management is a near-real time dynamic programming problem that designed to manage the airline flight networks. Our research focus is on the algorithm improvement for the minimum cost route selection for airlines' disruption management. The image presented is an abstract artistic illustration on the research focus. The airplane's choice consists of many interconnected routes, but an algorithm needs to decide the optimal path with the help of data and computational technologies. Another message behind this artistic illustration is that we, often faced with the inadequate information and numerous uncertainties during our research, and even in our life, need to find the optimal path to our own destination, hopefully with the help of these technology improvements.
