Abstract:The first two lectures of the series on “Some Thermodynamic Aspects of the Flow of Solids” summarized here deal with a brief introduction to the analytical theories of deformation and the application of the 3-dimensional theory of viscoelasticity to the flow of solids. The concept of the thermodynamic impedance function is introduced to formulate the equivalent thermodynamic system to the mechanical network representing the specific material.
