Title:Rotation associated with large strains

Abstract:The connection between the local rotation tensor and the strain tensor is investigated. Expressions for the derivatives of the components of the rotation tensor are derived, and they lead to new forms for the compatibility relations for finite strain. For two-dimensional deformations, it is shown that the rotation and the deformation field can be determined directly from the strains through line integrals.
