Abstract:This paper motivates, reviews and formulates the gravity-driven Newtonian coating flow on a planar incline. The classical temporal linear stability approach predict neutral stability in accordance with experimental observations, while the classical spatial stability approach predicts infinite growth rates. The mathematically sound my-speed approach resolves this quandary and corroborates the temporal result.
