Title:Coherent solid-state phase transitions with atomic diffusion thermomechanical treatment
Author(s):Fried, Eliot; Gurtin, Morton E.
Subject(s):Solid-state Phase Transitions
Atomic Diffusion
Abstract:In parallel with the work of the materials scientists, mechanicians such as Coleman, Ericksen, Toupin, Truesdell, and Noll constructed a framework for general nonlinear theories of continua, a framework based on three principal ingredients: (i) balance laws (for mass, momentum, energy, etc.), (ii) an imbalance that represents the second law of thermodynamics, (iii) constitutive equations.
