Abstract:In order to obtain reliable turbulence statistics, as well as time-resolved particle image velocimetry (PIV) measurements, one must be able to interrogate hundreds or even thousands of PIV images within a reasonable amount of time(~ a few hours). In the case or holographic PIV (HPIV) , interrogation speed is also a limitation because HPIV images can yields as many as one-million vectors. Therefore, fast and accurate processing of PIV images is an absolute necessity.
