Abstract:This chapter tells the story of the Inquiry Group, which has supported professional development through both online and offline means, thriving for more than 25 years. Many other projects have been designed to foster online, professional development communities, but the story of the Inquiry Group looks quite different. We explore here the nature of the group, the reasons for the differences, and the implications for how to study online community building.
