Abstract: | The purpose of this resource report is to find out the economic and social realities of the trades and professions predominant in rural Sangamon County. The resource list is divided into three parts. Secion A - a listing of the 52 occupations in rural Sangamon County, Illinois, in 1850 (excluding farmer and laborer)- lays out the occupations from most to least common in occurrence. Section B - household numbers and places of birth of persons in 52 occupations - gives two basic types of information.
