Abstract:This article discusses the defining characteristics of the organizational model for the provision of library services in Spanish prisons. The author provides data about the correctional facilities and the offender population and focuses on several issues that impact on the organization and operation of prison libraries. The article concludes with a reflection on the limitations of the current library service model.
