incident pion momentum hydrogen bubble chamber |
Abstract: | The results of an investigation of the reaction pi- p -> pi= pw at an incident pion momentum of 5 BeV/c are presented. The data for this study were obtained with the Alvarez 72-inch hydrogen bubble chamber. *0 N production and B production were both observed. From a moment analysis of the angular distributions in the sequential decays B -> wpi, w -> 3pi, the B is found to have either JP = 1+ or JP = 2+3-4+ A qualitative argument against the JP = 2+3-4+ ... assignments is made on the basis of the observed polarization of the B. |
