Abstract:This research aims at studying the single-channel Fast Traversal Recursive Least Squares (FTRLS) filter and deriving a multi-channel, multi-length version of the algorithm. The multi-channel algorithm is first derived mathematically; it is then tested through MATLAB simulation. Since a stability problem was observed during simulation, the algorithm was further adjusted. MATLAB simulation proved the multi-channel FTRLS algorithm to be functioning and mathematically stable. However, the algorithm only works for multi-channel filters with the same filter length on each channel. When the channel lengths are different from each other, the filter quickly overflows. The research suggests that the problem may come from the setting up of the initial conditions.
