Abstract: | A microstrip patch antenna consists of a very thin metallic strip (thickness << lambda0, where lambda0 is the free-space wavelength) placed a small fraction of a wavelength above a ground plane, with a dielectric substrate in between. We simulated a microstrip patch antenna that is aligned with bending surfaces to see how it performs with the curvature. We then verified the simulation results by fabricating the antenna and performing the measurement in the antenna laboratory. The calculation, simulation, and measurement results are presented, and we conclude that there are only a few effects of radius of curvature on the microstrip patch antenna functionality. |
