Title:Code Construction for User Identification in Flash Communication

Abstract:Carrier sense multiple access with collision avoidance or CSMA/CA is a protocol used in Wi-Fi networks because CSMA/CA does not have a complicated control plane. Wi-Fi, unlike cellular network, cannot afford an expensive and sophisticated control plane. The tradeoff of the complexity is the efficiency of the network. CSMA/CA has a random back off to deal with the secondary user. In "Flashback: Decoupled Lightweight Wireless Control," Cidon et al. introduced the flashback algorithm to connect the secondary user with the server in an emergency case. In this work, we construct the unique identifications for all the potential users (ids). The ids will be easily decodable at the server. We use the combination of Reed Solomon code which is a linear code, non-linear mapping, and orthogonal frequency-division modulation (OFDM) to construct the codes for identifications.
