Subject(s):power system monitoring
disturbance analysis
frequency monitoring
event analysis
Abstract:Recently there has been a rapid growth in the number of devices monitoring the electric power grid. An interesting new development has been growing availability of low-cost, easily deployable units that measure the voltage magnitude, frequency and phase angle at the 120 V level. The purpose of this thesis is to research the degree to which multiple deployments of these units can be used to measure conditions further upstream in the distribution system. The power system behavior during a national sports event is analyzed as a subject.
