Abstract: | Davis, resident of Elizabethtown, Illinois, recalls his personal experiences in the army during the Vietnam conflict. He was drafted after graduating from high school and worked in a local fluorspar mine. Davis recalls incidents from his service in Vietnam, including seeing a man blown to pieces by a Vietcong satchel bomb and witnessing a black soldier saving a white soldier trapped in a bombed tower bunker. Photos taken by Davis while he was in Vietnam are included in the memoir. |
