Abstract:Although current methods for automatically labeling a speech corpus have significantly reduced the amount of time and effort required by this once- tedious task, they still depend greatly on the existence of a labeled reference corpus. This thesis proposes a method for automatically labeling a speech corpus using data from a reference corpus in a different, but phonetically similar language. This method is tested experimentally by identifying phonemes in Mexican Spanish using training data from American English.
