Abstract: When asked to speak at this conference on the topic, "What Library Schools Offer that School Library Media Specialists and Youth Services Librarians Need," it was decided that personal experience needed to be supplemented with curriculum revision at Michigan and with the rather sketchy knowledge of what some colleagues at other universities are doing in library education for youth services with current information from other programs. Many library school catalogs, including Michigan's, did not reflect the most recent developments, and the professional literature seemed to focus more on what is not being done rather than what is being done.
