Abstract:On May 21 and 22, 2002, the Illinois Fire Service Institute and the Illinois Terrorism Task Force co-hosted the first statewide homeland security summit at the University of Illinois at Springfield. The central goal of the summit was to bring together loca, regional, state, and federal homeland security policymakers, first responders, and leaders in Illinois to develop a statement of the "State of Homeland Security in Illinois" relative to key issues and to make policy and program recommendations that can be taken at the local, regional, state, and national levels to improve homeland security in Illinois.
