Abstract:Family is one of the biggest influences on women's diet. Women who belong to low socioeconomic level, privilege their partners and children when eating. In this picture the viewer can watch three plates with food. There are differences between the three plates, mainly related to amount and kind of food. The women's meal is the dish which is in the bottom of the picture, in the corner of the table. Watching the women's dish, less amount and lack of meat can be observed. According to women, their children and partners have to eat well and deserve the best. Women eat leftover, once they give enough food to their partners and children. This picture is part of a research which is looking for the determinants of eating behavior in low socioeconomic Chilean women. Women had to take pictures about their food world. Pictures were used as a base in an interview (Photo-elicitation). Consent to use pictures was obtained from women.
