Title:The Experiences of Hong Kong Tertiary Students With Disabilities: A Qualitative Exploration

Abstract:This qualitative study was designed to investigate the barriers and supports encountered by nine students with disabilities at an institution of higher education in Hong Kong. Participant observation in classrooms at the university studied and semi-structured interviews with students with disabilities, their instructors, and staff designated to serve such students constituted the data collection methods employed. The level of instructional and technological accommodation provided to students depended upon the types of disabilities they had. Practical and research implications are delineated for institutions of higher education in Asia and in the West.
