Title:Indiana University Regional Campus Libraries: Toward a system of academic libraries
Author(s):Reynolds, Michael M.
Subject(s):Libraries --Automation
Centralized technical processing in libraries
Abstract:On the basis of visits to the regional campuses and discussions with regional campus faculty and administration, as well as a growing awareness of the political realities within the state and the University, the assistant director began almost immediately to centralize technical processing. However, it was patent that library materials for research needs were urgent and that even with substantially greater resources than were available, this need could not be met. It was imperative that a public service operation be developed locally which would provide, from the University Library at Bloomington or through interlibrary loan from other institutions, library materials not locally available. The promotion and implementation of this system was given a priority equal to technical processing.
