Abstract:The transmetalation mechanism was examined through the natural abundance 13C NMR kinetic isotope effect (KIE) studies. This provided evidence for either palladium-olefin complexation or a Heck-type carbometalation as the turnover-limiting step for these cross-coupling reactions.
