Abstract:In addition, a pyridopyrimidinyl urea was designed to maintain a self-complementary hydrogen-bonding array regardless of its protomeric form. This module was readily synthesized, and 1H NMR studies in a variety of solvents indicated formation of quadruply hydrogen-bonded dimers, which are among the strongest neutral, hydrogen-bonded species reported to date. A strong complex also formed between this protomeric building block and a diamidonaphthyridine, as the result of a conformational switch. A ditopic module containing the pyridopyrimidinyl urea was used in the construction of self-assembled dendrimers.
