Abstract:Louis XIV brought the various activities of partisan warfare to a higher level of centralization than in past wars. Siege and battle were often carried forth in support of partisan operations, rather than the other way around as one might expect. The French conduct of military operations in the Netherlands during the Dutch War produced a military revolution in the operational art of war (Conclusion).
