Abstract:In a subsequent set of analyses I incorporate fertility intentions into the model. I find different effects of union status for unintended versus intended births. The effect of union status is much more pronounced for women who have a birth by choice. A marriage which immediately followed a cohabitation results in a union where an unintended first birth is unlikely. Again, I find variation in these patterns by cohort of birth of the mother.
