Abstract:A final chapter considers a controversy over prostitution and trafficking in the 1990s by analyzing a debate over commercial sex advertisements in a local alternative weekly. Discourse analysis of this debate suggests the persistence of a symbolic connection between mass distribution media and a perceived traffic in women.
