Abstract:Providing a new edition of Themistius' paraphrase of the de Anima is my ultimate objective. However, given the limited scope of a dissertation, I have restricted myself to an examination of only a portion of the paraphrase. The segment of the text under consideration, 3.4--3.8, is that which deals with Aristotle's discussion of noesis. Besides being of a length suitable to the scope of a dissertation, this passage has been the focus of a significant amount of recent research. Therefore, an improved text of this section provides a significant and timely contribution to scholarship.
