Abstract: | Results of this study indicate that business combinations which augment market share and those which affect backward (or upstream) vertical integration have a more positive impact on union bargaining outcomes than do those transactions which affect greater product diversification. Mergers or acquisitions which lead to greater forward (or downstream) vertical integration appear to have the most negative impact on outcomes of collective bargaining. |
