Abstract:Results suggested that variables influenced the two types of net worth differently. Change in labor income was the only variable that supported the hypothesized relationships with change in financial saving net worth and change in housing net worth in all three racial/ethnic groups. Out of eight variables, four variables for Whites, five variables for Blacks, and two variables for Hispanics supported the hypothesized relationship with change in financial saving net worth. And, out of eight variables, six variables for Whites, three variables for Blacks, and two variables for Hispanics supported the hypothesized relationship with change in housing net worth. Implications for future research are discussed.
