Abstract:Real time data collection and display from medical devices remain challenging in clinical environments. The objective of this research is to correctly collect real time data from a patient monitor, Philips MP70, and display it in Java enabled environment. This research takes advantage of an online open source, OpenICE, which provides a prototype system designed to connect medical devices to applications. The first half of this research focuses mainly on configuring and connecting the main framework composed of a medical device (Philips MP70), a hardware device adaptor (BeagleBone Black) and a supervisor (Laptop). The second half is primarily about locating and fixing software bugs that cause significant delay and jitter in the display of heart rate waves. This research also concerns how to correctly and efficiently handle medical device data.
