Abstract:Herein we present experimentally determined infra-red spectra of entrance channel complexes of various small alkanes interacting with alkanes. The entrance channel complexes of ethane, propane and n-butane with positively charged aluminum ions were studied in the gas phase. The spectra are compared with theoretical calculations, and the structures of various products are elucidated from the spectra.
