Abstract:The Twelfth Annual Clinic on Library Applications of Data Processing was held at the Ramada Inn, Champaign, Illinois, April 27-30, 1975. The subject of this particular clinic was the application of computers to information retrieval and other aspects of reference service in libraries. An attempt was made, through a combination of formal papers and demonstrations, to cover a wide range of applications of machine-readable data bases in support of the reference activities of libraries. The papers contained in this volume represent a number of different viewpoints and different types of user. Public, academic and industrial libraries are all represented. Some of the papers are presented by consumers, while others are given by retailers of information service.
