Abstract:The operational amplifier has been widely adopted in the application of voltage follower, current-to-voltage converter, active filter, integrator etc. However, traditional amplifier topologies suffer from the trade-off between power consumption, gain-bandwidth product as well as different types of noise in circuits. A discrete time amplifier utilizing a cross-coupled pair topology studied by researchers had been presented. It has been proved to be able to provide higher gain-bandwidth product, lower power consumption and smaller noise effect. Fundamental theories and techniques for designing such a circuit is presented. Impacts of alterations of some of the circuit characteristics are also discussed.
