Abstract:There is a need to have open-source tools for power systems analysis, particularly for academic and other research purposes. This thesis provides the academic and other research communities a beginning set of open-source power analysis tools written in C++. There are many types of power analysis problems, including but not limited to dynamic stability studies, optimal power flow (OPF), security constrained optimal power flow (SCOPF), and economic dispatch (ED). Among all the problems, there is at least one thing often in common. Every power analysis problem requires the power flow of the system, a snapshot of the steady-state of the voltages and angles of each bus of the power system to be studied. A power flow program is a result of this thesis. The power flow module is written in ISO C++14, officially known as ISO International Standard ISO/IEC 14882:2014(E) programming language C++. The power flow module is provided as an open-source project.
