Title:Design Make A Difference
Author(s):Ding, Yizhen
Subject(s):Landscape Architecture
Abstract:What is Landscape Architecture? Most people either haven’t heard about it or simply think it is about gardening. But as landscape architect, we also take ecology, sustainability, culture, safety, art, energy, etc. on board. Before we start a design, we learn a lot about the site, the “inside part” is the history and culture, the “outside part” is the geology of the site. Through all the literature and computer analysis, we can find the best way to add human intervention into the site. Landscape architecture is a major combining research with art. The image I choose is a project I did in 2016 fall semester, we were invited to come up with a solution to revitalize a summer community which is now facing problem of flood and lack of money. Through analysis the community’s culture, history and geology, I am able to make several programs for the community which help them not only improve the environment and also earn money. A landscape design are never simple aesthetic but a lot to consider behind the scene.
