Abstract:DNA translocation through a cell membrane can be modeled by studying the numerical model of the electrostatics of a doped semiconductor. A software for the theoretical investigation of DNA translocation through a nanopore in a thin solid‐state membrane is developed by Professor Leburton’s group at the University of Illinois. The software involves the solution of the Poisson equation in three-dimensional geometries. One major concern about that program is that it is not written in a systematic way so that it is difficult to make modification to the program. By modifying the software, we can achieve better control over the model and can freely adjust the program to serve our purpose.
