Abstract:Antenna‐coupled metal‐oxide‐metal (MIM) diode is a promising low‐cost device that can detect, or collect electromagnetic radiation around specific wavelength at room temperature. In this work, with an antenna‐coupled MIM diode designed and fabricated by Mr. Ardy Winoto, this diode’s operation principle, I‐V characteristics, behavior while connected to a load impedance, responsivity, and noise parameters will be fully characterized. The operation principle (tunneling principle) and I‐V curve of the antenna‐coupled MIM diode will be hypothesized first. Then they will be proved by experimental results from response current measurement and noise measurement.
