Abstract: | This course teaches genre-writing in response to Chinese culture-themed texts. Texts for the course include the following: China Daily and Xinhua news articles, Chinese film, documentary videos, Chinese Cultural Center in Phoenix, Arizona, and some authentic Chinese restaurants in local Phoenix/Tempe area. Additionally, 101 requires competence in the following paper genres: informational reports, position papers (informed-argument), review/evaluation papers, and reflection papers. Emphasis on rhetoric and composition with a focus on expository writing and understanding writing as a process. Establishing effective college-level writing strategies through four or more writing projects comprising at least 3,000 words in total. |
