Abstract:Ring oscillators are a common circuit element with broad application. Their advantages include a small area, production of a wide range of frequencies, and availability in any process. However, process technology, voltage and temperature variability affect the reliability of the output of ring oscillators which requires feedback to help correct errors. This project will investigate input voltage variability effects on ring oscillators and circuits to help correct input voltage variability which are implemented in the form of a constant voltage reference and voltage regulator. The regulator is used to correct for any deviations in the output of the voltage reference to ensure the ring oscillator has a constant input voltage. The ring oscillator’s performance will be measured with transient, steady-state and jitter analysis.
