
The Institute Site: The Conference Center at the Robert Allerton Park is located near Monticello, Illinois. It includes approximately 1,500 acres of woodland property, and Allerton House, a 20-room Georgian mansion. Institute activities will be held at Allerton House. The area surrounding Allerton House provides Institute participants with an opportunity to enjoy natural settings that include formal gardens and sculpture. Messages for conference participants may be left at the voice number for Allerton Conference Center: 217-333-3287. A message board will be found near the main staircase in Allerton House on which messages will be posted.

None of the Allerton House residence rooms has a telephone, but several phone lines are available in conference rooms for those wishing to check email, etc.
Registration: Please submit your completed registration form by September 30. The total fee for the conference is $120. This conference is being subsidized by a grant from the National Science Foundation which enables participation at a lower than normal fee.
This fee includes registration for the Institute, lodging (for Sunday and Monday nights), and meals (dinner Sunday; breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday; breakfast and lunch Tuesday). Also included are morning and afternoon refreshment breaks.
Accommodations at Allerton Park and Conference Center are limited. Participation in the Allerton Institute is by invitation only. Walk-in registrations will not be accepted.
Accommodations: Participants will stay in the main house at Allerton Park, or in Evergreen Lodge, Gate House, or House in the Woods, all a short walk to the main house. All accommodations are non-smoking and are multiple occupancy (single- gender), holding between two and six people. Room assignments will be made on a first-come, first-served basis. Meals will be serve in the dining hall at Allerton House. Please note any specia dietary or lodging requirements on your registration form. Dress is casual.
Transportation: Willard Airport at Champaign-Urbana is served by Trans World Express, USAir Express, American Eagle and Northwest Airlink/Mesaba, with connections from Chicago, Detroitsine Service from information on your registration form; conference participants will pay Corky's directly at the point of travel ($30/1 person; $15/2 people; $10/3 or more people). As it is cheaper to fly into the O'Hare airport in Chicago than Champaign, National Car Rental has a special rate for persons coming to Champaign-Urbana for University of Illinois-sponsored activities from O'Hare. The rate is $41 plus 150 free miles (it's approximately 165 miles from O'Hare to Champaign). If you are renting the car round trip--picking up at O'Hare and returning it to O'Hare-- you should receive unlimited mileage. The phone number for National is 800-227-7368. Refunds: If you find you cannot attend the Institute, we will refund your fees provided you notify us by Wednesday, October 9, 1995.

Extended Stay Information: Individuals who wish to extend their stay in the Champaign-Urbana area, either before or after the conference, must make their own arrangements for lodging, meals, and transportation. For those persons arriving on Saturday, October 26, securing a hotel room in Champaign-Urbana should not be a problem. You must make your own hotel reservation. If you would like Corky's A-1 Limousine to transport you from a local hotel to Allerton Park on Sunday, indicate on the registration form which hotel you will be staying at Saturday night and we will coordinate pickup with Corky's -- or you may make your own reservation with Corky's by calling (217) 352-3121.
Rooms at Allerton will not be available before Sunday or after Monday night.
