Davidson, Fred Teaching English as Second Language ELT Aid Educational Methodologies eng The implementation of ELT aid in developing countries has been promoting the introduction of new methodologies and the renovation of ELT programs. Besides these new ELT developments, research has recognized several issues related to the appropriateness and sustainability of ELT aid projects. This qualitative research study aims to identify and evaluate some of these issues arising during the design and implementation of the BC ELT aid project at Tirana University in Albania. Through an analysis of the BC project design and methodology appropriateness to the local, social and professional context, this study sheds light on some of the undermining factors that account for the ephemeral nature of such projects. It also reveals the need for the aid­ providing countries to set aside old assumptions about developing countries and undertake serious research, evaluative of the local culture in order to increase aid relevance and effectiveness. text Copyright owned by the author.
